Legislative District 4

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 4th District encompasses nine communities in Camden and Gloucester counties: Chesilhurst, Clementon, Gloucester Township, Laurel Springs, Lindenwold, Monroe, Pitman, Washington and Winslow.

The district leans heavily Democratic — about 44% of those who have registered to vote are Democrats, compared to about 19% Republican. Most of the rest are unaffiliated.

The 4th District was a split district until the 2011 election, when its Republican assemblyman was redistricted into the neighboring 3rd District. It has been reliably blue ever since.

Both current Democratic Assembly members are seeking re-election: Paul Moriarty of Sewell and Gabriela Mosquera of Blackwood.

The Republican challengers are Paul Dilks of Turnersville and Stephen Pakradooni Jr. of Sewell.
