Legislative District 38

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 38th District encompasses 13 communities in Bergen and Passaic counties: Bergenfield, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hasbrouck Heights, Hawthorne, Lodi, Maywood, New Milford, Oradell, Paramus, River Edge, Rochelle Park, and Saddle Brook.

Voter registration is more than one-third Democratic and 22% Republican, with most of the rest unaffiliated. The Democrats have been winning in recent years, but the elections have been relatively close.

Both Democrats are seeking re-election. They are Assembly members Lisa Swain of Fair Lawn and Christopher Tully of Bergenfield.

Michael A. Kazimir of Rochelle Park and Christopher DiPiazza of Paramus are the GOP Assembly candidates.
