NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 33rd District in Hudson County encompasses Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken, and part of Jersey City.

More than half of all registered voters identify themselves as Democrats. About 10% are Republicans, and most others have no party affiliation.

Both Democratic incumbents are seeking re-election: Assembly members Raj Mukherji, an attorney and former deputy mayor of Jersey City, and Annette Chaparro of Hoboken.

The Republican ticket features Holly Lucyk of Hoboken, running for a second time, and Fabian Rohena of Jersey City.
