Legislative District 22

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 22nd District includes 11 communities in Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties: Clark, Dunellen, Fanwood, Green Brook, Linden, Middlesex, North Plainfield, Plainfield, Rahway, Scotch Plains, and Winfield.

Voter registration is 49% Democratic and 15% Republican, with the rest mostly unaffiliated. Democrats control this district.

After winning a primary battle, Democratic incumbent Assembly members James Kennedy, the former mayor of Rahway, and Linda Carter of Clark are defending their seats.

They have only one Republican opponent, Patricia Quattrocchi of Clark.
