Legislative District 17

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 17th District is made up of five municipalities in Middlesex and Somerset counties: Franklin, Milltown, New Brunswick, North Brunswick, and Piscataway.

This is a Democratic stronghold, with 46% of registered voters declaring for the Democratic Party and 12% for the Republicans. Most of the rest are unaffiliated.

Both incumbents are Democrats and are running for re-election. They are Assemblymen Joseph Egan of New Brunswick and Joe Danielsen of Somerset.

The Republican slate is comprised of Patricia Badovinac of Piscataway and Maria Concepcion Powell of New Brunswick.
