Legislative District 13

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 13th District is made up 16 communities in Monmouth County: Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Highlands, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Marlboro, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Rumson, Sea Bright, and Union Beach.

Republicans hold a slight voter registration advantage over Democrats. Still, about 46% of all voters are unaffiliated. The district skews “red.”

The Assembly members, also Republicans, are Amy Handlin of Lincroft and Serena DiMaso of Holmdel. Handlin is not seeking re-election. DiMaso is running with Gerard Scharfenberger of Middletown.

Their Democratic opponents are Allison Friedman of Aberdeen and Barbara Singer of Holmdel.
