Legislative District 10

NJ Spotlight | October 8, 2019 | Elections 2019

NJ Spotlight is sharing election coverage with NJTV News, our sister organization, which invited all candidates to complete a brief survey and record a video message; we have included those for all the candidates who responded.

The 10th District covers 10 Jersey Shore communities in Ocean County: Bay Head, Brick, Island Heights, Lakehurst, Lavallette, Manchester, Mantoloking, Point Pleasant Beach, Seaside Heights, and Toms River.

The district leans red, with 34% of voters registered as Republicans, 23% as Democrats, and most of the rest unaffiliated.

Six candidates are on the November ballot, seeking two Assembly seats.

The district is represented by two Republicans, one of whom is retiring. Assemblyman Gregory McGuckin of Toms River is seeking re-election with John Catalano of Brick. Catalano hopes to replace Assemblyman Dave Wolfe, who is not running again.

Running as Democrats are Ellen Della Volle and Erin Wheeler, both of Brick.

Two independents are also running. Vincent Barrella of Point Pleasant Beach is running under the slogan Integrity Experience Leadership. Ian Holmes of Brick chose Addressing Systemic Issues as his slogan.
