With a clean-energy future at the top of the agenda for Gov. Phil Murphy and his administration, several issues have emerged that demand a coordinated response. One major challenge concerns how energy will be effectively stored and distributed. Related questions yet to be answered include whether the state is expanding storage solutions quickly enough to allow scale adoption of renewable energy sources and whether energy storage technologies can be deployed without sacrificing resiliency in the traditional power grid. There is also the vital issue of incentives — exactly what kind will be needed to ensure the state will meet its 2021 energy storage mandates?

An expert panel, moderated by NJ Spotlight Energy Reporter Tom Johnson, will discuss “Achieving Clean Energy in New Jersey: Energy Storage, Microgrids, and Distributed Energy Resources” at the Robert Treat Hotel, 50 Park Place, Newark today, with a livestream of the event by NJTV News, starting at 8:25 a.m.
