What’s Next for Marijuana in the Garden State?

An NJ Spotlight roundtable on the effort to legalize adult-use marijuana, increase access to medical marijuana and ensure social justice. You can watch a livestream of the discussion

For more than a year, New Jersey’s Democratic leaders have been working on a three-pronged strategy to legalize and broaden the use of marijuana in the state.

The first part of the strategy involves widening the availability of medical marijuana. Second, Democratic leaders want to legalize adult-use recreational marijuana. The third prong in their approach is a social justice pact — offering records expungement for those convicted of possessing small amounts of marijuana. They also plan to give minorities a leg up on investing in the new industry.

An NJ Spotlight roundtable will examine new regulations for medical marijuana and the possible impact on healthcare in the Garden State, as well as the prospects for the legalization of adult-use marijuana, incorporating social justice initiatives.

“The State of Marijuana in the State of New Jersey: What’s Next?” roundtable takes place today at the DoubleTree Somerset Hotel and Conference Center in Somerset starting at 8:30 a.m.
