Legislative District 25

NJ Spotlight | May 20, 2019 | Primary 2019

The 25th District encompasses 21 communities in Morris and Somerset counties: Bernardsville, Boonton Borough and Boonton Township, Chester Borough and Chester Township, Denville, Dover, Mendham Borough and Mendham Township, Mine Hill, Morris Township, Morristown, Mount Arlington, Mountain Lakes, Netcong, Randolph, Rockaway, Roxbury, Victory Gardens, Washington, and Wharton.

In what has long been a solidly Republican district, more than a third of voters are registered with the GOP, 29 percent as Democrats, and most of the rest are unaffiliated.

The retirement of longtime conservative Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll, a Morris Plains lawyer, has brought a contested Republican primary. Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco, a lawyer and former Boonton Board of Education member, is seeking re-election. The other three candidates are John M. Barbarula of Randolph, Brian Bergen of Denville and Aura Kenny Dunn of Mendham.

Running as Democrats are Lisa Bhimani of Mendham Township, who ran unsuccessfully for Senate two years ago, and Darcy Draeger of Chester.
