Legislative District 23

The sprawling 23rd District includes 34 communities in Hunterdon, Somerset, and Warren counties: Alexandria, Alpha, Bedminster, Bethlehem, Bloomsbury, Bound Brook, Bridgewater, Califon, Clinton, Clinton Township, Franklin (Hunterdon), Frenchtown, Glen Gardner, Greenwich, Hackettstown, Hampton, Harmony, High Bridge, Holland, Kingwood, Lebanon Borough and Lebanon Township, Lopatcong, Mansfield, Milford, Peapack-Gladstone, Phillipsburg, Pohatcong, Raritan Borough, South Bound Brook, Tewksbury, Union, Washington Borough, and Washington Township.

Voter registration skews Republican, with more than a third of registered voters identifying with the GOP. Democrats comprise 26 percent of those registered, and most of the rest are unaffiliated.

The district is represented by Republicans, both of whom are seeking re-election. Assemblyman Erik Peterson is a Flemington attorney and Assemblyman John DiMaio is a contractor from Hackettstown.

The Democratic ticket features Marisa Trofimov of Hampton and Denise T. King of Bedminster.
