Legislative District 22

The 22nd District includes 11 communities in Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties: Clark, Dunellen, Fanwood, Green Brook, Linden, Middlesex, North Plainfield, Plainfield, Rahway, Scotch Plains, and Winfield.

Voter registration is 48 percent Democratic and 15 percent Republican, with the rest mostly unaffiliated. Democrats control this district.

The Democrats have a contested primary race. Both incumbents are seeking re-election: Assembly members James Kennedy, the former mayor of Rahway, and Linda Carter of Clark. The slate opposing them features Carlos A. Rivas and Mark A. Lighten, both of Linden.

Only one Republican candidate, Patricia Quattrocchi of Clark, filed to run.
