Vying with Other 2020 Dems for Votes from Women of Color

Sen. Cory Booker, other Democratic presidential candidates take part in Texas forum that focuses on issues facing women of color

On Wednesday, the Booker campaign was in Houston at the campus of Texas Southern University, one of 10 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the state of Texas. She the People is a national organization with the mission of building political power and amplifying the voices of, particularly, women of color. The group organized a presidential forum on the campus that brought together eight of the men and women running for the Democratic nomination for president, including Sen. Cory Booker.

Questions ranged from foreign policy to gender and economic equality. In addition to Booker, some of the high-profile candidates who took part in the forum included Beto O’Rourke, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Julian Castro and Kamala Harris.

Booker flies next to South Carolina, an important early-voting state. He has events there on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, at the end of which he will wrap up his two-week “Justice For All” tour.
