Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) kicked off his presidential campaign’s “Justice for All” tour Saturday with an event in Newark’s Military Park.
It marked the beginning of the Democratic candidate’s first national tour — two weeks that also include stops in Iowa, Georgia, and Nevada.
In February, Booker announced his run for president in front of his Newark home.
He’s one of 18 candidates who’ve officially declared they’re seeking the Democratic nomination in 2020.
Booker, who has served in the U.S. Senate since 2013, first came to national prominence when he ran in the 2002 Newark mayoral race.
He was elected mayor of the city in 2006.
