Four candidates are running in District 8, which includes parts of New Jersey’s largest cities — Newark and Jersey City — as well as other portions of Hudson and Essex counties, and some Bergen and Union municipalities.

The incumbent is Democrat Albio Sires, who has been in Congress since 2006. The Republican is John Muniz of Jersey City. Also on the ballot are Libertarian Dan Delaney of Jersey City and Mahmoud Mahmoud of Edgewater, running under the slogan “New Way Forward.”
