Legislative District 7

NJ Spotlight | October 9, 2017 | Elections 2017

The 7th District encompasses 17 communities in Burlington County: Beverly, Bordentown, Bordentown Township, Burlington, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Fieldsboro, Florence, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Palmyra, Riverside, Riverton, and Willingboro.

Although registration is 41 percent Democrat and 21 percent Republican, giving the former a two-to-one advantage, this has been a split district. That could change this year, as incumbent Republican Sen. Diane Allen is not seeking re-election. The GOP is running Delanco Mayor John Browne for that seat, while the Democratic candidate is Troy Singleton, currently one of the Assembly members.

Running on the Democratic ticket with the other Assemblyman, Herb Conaway of Delanco, is Carol Murphy of Mount Laurel. The Republican candidates are Octavia Scott of Roebling and Robert Thibault of Beverly. Thibault and Browne replaced the Republican primary nominees, who withdrew from the race.
