Legislative District 22

The 22nd District includes 11 communities in Middlesex, Somerset, and Union counties: Clark, Dunellen, Fanwood, Green Brook, Linden, Middlesex, North Plainfield, Plainfield, Rahway, Scotch Plains, and Winfield.

Voter registration is 47 percent Democratic and 15 percent Republican, with the rest mostly unaffiliated. Democrats control this district.

All three incumbents are seeking re-election: Sen. Nicholas Scutari of Linden, and Assemblymen Jerry Green of Plainfield and James Kennedy, the former mayor of Rahway.

On the Republican side, the candidates are Joseph A. Bonilla of Clark for Senate, and Richard Fortunato of Scotch Plains and John Quattrocchi of Clark for Assembly.

Two independents are also on the Assembly ballot. Onel Martinez of Linden is running under the slogan “Remember Those Forgotten.” Sumantha Prasad of Plainfield has chosen “Pushing Us Forward” as a slogan.
