What does Gov. Chris Christie think of last week’s announcement of a deal among Democratic leaders to provide an additional $125 million in state aid for public education?
“I’m certainly looking at it, examining it,” the governor said. “There are things about it that I find encouraging. There are things about it that I find discouraging and unfair, and so we’ll have to see what we’re going to do.”
Christie, who was speaking at a press conference to trumpet improvements to Interstate-95 in Mercer County, said he would discuss his concerns about the deal in meetings this week with Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and Senate President Steve Sweeney. He added, “If you just look at the numbers of where money is going and how it’s distributed, it raises some questions, and I want those questions answered.”
