MacArthur (NJ-3rd) came to national attention this spring when he revived the moribund GOP healthcare bill and brokered a compromise and moderate Republicans. After the bill passed the House last month, residents of his swing district berated him for more than five hours at a packed town hall in Willingboro.
“You have been the single greatest threat to my family in the entire world. You are the reason I stay up at night,” said Pine Beach resident Geoff Ginter at that meeting.
Sunday’s event is the first time the president has hosted a fundraiser for a member of Congress, according to MacArthur’s political strategist, Chris Russell.
