Legislative District 7

NJ Spotlight | May 7, 2017 | Elections 2017

The 7th District encompasses 17 communities in Burlington County: Beverly, Bordentown, Bordentown Township, Burlington, Burlington Township, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Fieldsboro, Florence, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Palmyra, Riverside, Riverton, and Willingboro.

Although registration is 36 percent Democrat and 20 percent Republican, giving the former a two-to-one advantage, this has been a split district. That could change this year, as incumbent Republican Sen. Diane Allen is not seeking re-election. Rob Prisco, an attorney from Riverside who was unsuccessful in an Assembly bid two years ago, has filed to replace her.

The Assemblymen, who are Democrats, are Herb Conaway of Delanco and Troy Singleton of Palmyra. Singleton filed for the Senate seat and is being challenged by Cory Cottingham of Willingboro.

Conaway is seeking re-election, paired with Carol Murphy of Mount Laurel. Democrat Jennifer Hiniu Chuang of Moorestown is challenging them. The Republicans who filed are Octavia Scott of Roebling and Mike Piper of Delran.
