It is with sadness that we note the passing this week of Kevin Harold, our publisher and one of the co-founders of NJ Spotlight.
Kevin was instrumental in helping bootstrap this website, and is one of the people who helped make us what we are today. He was more than enthusiastically supportive. He read our stories and understood what we were trying to accomplish. He was a full partner in our editorial endeavors, and he was prepared to help take us to the next level.
One of the things that made Kevin such a good publisher and an integral part of this organization was his respect for quality editorial. It was one of his life’s passions. He was more than proud to represent editorial that he believed in; he insisted on it. And he believed in his writers and editors with just as much passion.
Anyone who spent time with Kevin quickly recognized how much he loved life and how sincere he was in his convictions. And how easily he was able to laugh at them — and at so much else. Another of his lifelong loves was classical history, of which he was a dedicated student.
Kevin was part of publishing for more than 30 years, at IDG, as executive vice president at Rand McNally, senior vice president of McGraw Hill’s high-tech magazine group, and senior vice president of new media at Businessweek.
He will be sorely missed.
