The Democratic gubernatorial front-runner filed finance reports last week, showing exactly why he’s the front-runner. Phil Murphy filed forms showing he has raised $2,012,624.21 in cash contributions. He’s also promised a loan of $10 million to his campaign. That’s not far off the total of $13.5 million that Gov. Chris Christie raised for his last election in 2013. And it’s still about eight months until the primary takes place and more than a year until the general election. Murphy does seem to plan on spending it, though, as he has already dispensed $1.6 million from the campaign, according to the reports.
