NJ Spotlight Duo Discuss Their Meadowlands Hospital Investigation on WNYC

NJ Spotlight | August 18, 2016 | Health Care
Reporters talk about the three-part investigation of Meadowlands, its controversial healthcare and business practices, and its history of hefty political donations

Healthcare reporter Lilo Stainton and editor at large Colleen O’Dea spoke on the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC yesterday about the in-depth investigation they and other NJ Spotlight reporters conducted into Meadowlands Hospital.

They explained what Stainton described as the hospital’s “unusual business model,” its controversial billing practices and spotty financial reporting, as well as ‘AmeriMama,’ its program to attract Russian women to give birth here so that their children would have dual citizenship.

Meadowlands’ history of large political donations to Gov. Chris Christie and other New Jersey politicians was also part of the discussion.
