New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District covers Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem counties, as well as parts of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Ocean. Republican Rep. Frank LoBiando has represented the district since 1995 and is unopposed in the primary. Two Democrats are running for the right to challenge him in November: David Cole, of Sewell, who is the organization candidate, and Costantino “Tino” Rozzo, of Vineland, who ran unsuccessfully on the American Labor Party ticket two years ago. This district, which was blue until longtime Rep. William Hughes retired, is something of an anomaly. About a quarter of voters are registered Republicans, but slightly more are registered as Democrats. The district chose President Obama in 2012 and 2008, but also reelected LoBiondo.
