Rate at which tax collections have grown in first four months of state fiscal year

New state revenue figures released by the Department of Treasury yesterday show tax collections have grown by 2.9 percent during the first four months of the state fiscal year, which began July 1, compared to the same period during the last fiscal year. That growth at this point trails the 3.4 percent improvement in tax collections that Gov. Chris Christie has set for the full fiscal year, which runs through June 30, 2016. Tax collections during the month of October were a disappointment, according to Treasury’s revenue report, coming in 1.8 percent lower than October 2014.
