Voter Guide 2015: District 29

NJ Spotlight | October 14, 2015 | Elections 2015, Politics

District 29 covers Belleville and part of Newark in Essex County.

Heavily favoring Democrats, only 5 percent of district voters are registered as Republicans, while 45 percent are Democrats and most of the rest are unaffiliated.

Both Democratic incumbents are from Newark, and both are seeking re-election. Assemblywoman L. Grace Spenser, an attorney, is finishing her fourth term. Assemblywoman Eliana Pintor-Marin, who works in the Essex County Clerk’s Office, is in her first year.

The Republican ticket features Nicholas G. Campione of Belleville and Jeannette Veras of Newark. Pablo Olivera, a perennial candidate, is running as an independent under the slogan “Wake Up Jersey.”
