If Gov. Chris Christie succeeds in attaining the highest office in the land, folks in Colorado, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska — the four states that thus far have legalized pot — will have to surrender their stoner ways.
“If you’re getting high in Colorado today, enjoy it,” the governor said on Tuesday. “As of January 2017, I will enforce the federal law,” which classifies marijuana as a Schedule I drug, like heroin.
A Christie victory would also make short work of a bill introduced by state Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Union, Somerset, and Middlesex), which would make grass legal in the Garden State.
