Currently, over 1 million New Jersey residents are caring for aging parents or loved ones at home. On May 12th, a New Jersey law went into effect that is designed to provide support to these family caregivers so the elderly can stay at home longer. The name of the new law is the Caregiver, Record, Enable (CARE) Act.
This NJ Spotlight webinar, held on May 12th, 2015, explained how the CARE Act works and why it is important to those who are or who think they may be caring for a loved one at home. By requiring hospitals and doctors to provide information, instructions, and training to caregivers, it will improve healthcare in New Jersey. It will also lessen the financial burden on caregivers.
