This week, the Special Committee on Investigation into Bridgegate, led by Democrats, released its interim report of current findings. On the one hand, the report did release a few more details about the affair and pointed to inconsistencies in what officials said about the matter at the time. On the other, it failed to identify a smoking gun that would tie Gov. Chris Christie directly to the decision to shut down the George Washington Bridge or to cover up the scandal later.

At the same time, the Republican minority members of the committee released their own report, accusing the Democrats of conducting a political witch hunt and basically exonerating Christie.
