The Common Core State Standards: What are they and what impact will they have on New Jersey public schools?

NJ Spotlight last week held a special webinar, “The Basics of the Common Core,” to help answer those questions and promote discussion about the new achievement standards and how they measure students.

The webinar included presentations from Kimberley Harrington, chief academic officer of the New Jersey Department of Education, and Emil Carafa, principal of the Washington School in Lodi.

NJ Spotlight’s John Mooney served as moderator, and more than 200 people registered to attend. The webinar also included a lengthy question-and-answer session.

The webinar was sponsored by the Better Education for NJ Kids, the New Jersey PTA, and the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association.
