New Jersey has 130 miles of shore on which to enjoy summer

Ahh, summer at the Jersey Shore — all 130 miles of it.

The official season began last weekend, and it’s the first since superstorm Sandy that really feels normal.

If numbers tell the story, Gov. Chris Christie’s office released a slew of them about the Jersey Shore over the weekend. These include the fact that there are 3,000 acres of preserved barrier island ecosystems at Island Beach State Park; five amusement piers in Wildwood; 19 rides at Jenkinson’s amusement park in Point Pleasant beach; 70,000 wooden planks on the Wildwood boardwalk; 12 locations of Kohr’s custard stands, and two free beach concerts this year in Atlantic City (Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum).

And there are 97 days until Labor Day.
