NJ Spotlight | May 27, 2014 | Elections 2014

New Jersey’s 9th Congressional District, which contains parts of Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties, has a relatively quiet race this year.

Democratic incumbent Bill Pascrell Jr., in office since 1997, is defending his seat against Republican Diedre Paul and independent Nestor Montilla, running under the slogan “Seeking Inclusion.”

This is considered a safely blue district, with 38.4 percent of voters registered as Democrats, while 13.2 percent are registered Republicans.
