Poll names Chris Christie “hottest” U.S. politician

It seems Chris Christie might have quite a way to fall among potential voters of all stripes, if they come to the conclusion that he was aware that his close staffers were involved in the September lane closings on the George Washington Bridge.

Before Bridgegate broke wide open this week, the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute asked potential voters what they thought of 20 nationally known politicians using a “feeling thermometer” in which they chose a temperature of somewhere between 0 and 100, with 100 being the warmest.

Christie received the highest rating of 55.1. While he was given a 58.6 by Republicans, he only came in the middle of the pack with that group. (Mike Huckabee garnered a 74.9 from Republicans) On the other hand, he ranked first for independents (56.7) and was the highest-scoring Republican among Democrats, with a solid score of 51.2.

Among the Democratic field, Elizabeth Warren earned the highest rating from all voters, with a 50.7. Hillary Clinton, with a 48.5, came second. However, Clinton scored ahead of Warren with Democrats (77.2 vs. 73.9) and independents (46.8 vs. 46.1).
