New Jersey's rank for people moving out of state

New Jersey may be the most densely populated state in the country, but it ranks first when it comes to people moving out of it.

United Van Lines, the nation’s largest moving company, reports that for the third time in four years, New Jersey is ranked first when it comes to people moving out of state as compared to moving in. In 2013, 64 percent of those using the company were moving out. The company considers any rate above 55 percent a “high outbound” state. Runners up to New Jersey were Illinois, New York, West Virginia, and Connecticut, in that order.

Where are they going? The five locations that accepted the most inbound residents were, in order, Oregon, South Carolina, North Carolina, District of Columbia, and South Dakota.
