Welcome to New Jersey: The Bluegrass State

NJ Spotlight | January 3, 2014 | More Issues
Armed only with banjo, fiddle, and guitar, a trio of talented young men are putting the Garden State on the bluegrass map

The Mizzone brothers of Lebanon Township — the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys — may not need an introduction to New Jersey’s bluegrass fans, but anybody who loves good music will appreciate the foot-stomping virtuosity of these three young men.

All under 16 years old, Jonny (banjo), Robbie (fiddle), and Tommy (guitar) have been making a name for themselves and the state for quite a while now.

In 2013, the trio traveled to Long Beach, CA, to take part in the annual TED Conference, the main event for the series. We post the video here, giving us a musical close to NJ Spotlight’s Holiday Sampler 2013.

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. NJ Spotlight will resume on Monday our daily coverage of news and issues in the state in the new year.
