Gov. Chris Christie has yet to be sworn in to a second term, but most New Jerseyans — and political activists — fully expect him to run for president of the United States. And they’re fine with it: 67 percent of those polled in the most recent Monmouth University/Asbury Park Press poll said they wouldn’t be particularly bothered if Christie ran.
Democrats (39 percent) are more likely than independents (26 percent) and Republicans (22 percent) to be bothered at least a little by the prospect. What’s more, 69 percent of New Jerseyans say they wouldn’t care if he resigned his office in order to pursue the White House.
As Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling institute said, “New Jersey is fairly united on this one: Run, Christie, run!”
