District 33
District 33 in Hudson County encompasses Hoboken, Union City, Weehawken and part of Jersey City.

Democrats hold the plurality here, with just shy of half of registered voters identifying themselves as “blue.” About 8 percent are Republicans and most others have no party affiliation.

Running for re-election to the Senate seat is Democrat Brian Stack, the mayor of Union City, who was elected to the state Senate in 2008. Neither incumbent assemblyman is seeking re-election. Running for the Assembly seats are Democrats Raj Mukherji, an attorney and former deputy mayor of Jersey City, and Carmelo Garcia, of Hoboken.

Stack is opposed by Republican James Sanford, a Hoboken committeeman and manager of a credit union. The Republican candidates for the Assembly are Jude Anthony Tiscornia, a Jersey City lawyer, and Armando Hernandez, a lawyer who resides in Union City.
