Average Life Expectancy of New Jersey newborns

Infants born and raised in New Jersey have a life expectancy of 80 years, one year higher than the country as a whole, according to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s datahub.

If you’re Asian, that newborn can expect to live until 92. Latinos also have a higher-than-average life expectancy: 87.
African-American infants, meanwhile, have an average span of 75 years.

Life expectancy in New Jersey is among the highest in the country. Nationally, a few states such as Massachusetts, have higher life expectancy rates for African-Americans (Massachusetts is 79; Connecticut, 77), but for the most part, New Jerseyans can expect to live at least one year longer than elsewhere in the country.
