New Jerseyans work longer than most other Americans, according to a new U.S. Census Bureau report from the American Community Survey, with 25.6 percent of men in the Garden State working beyond 65 years of age. Of those men, 51 percent continue to work fulltime.

Nationally, 20.7 percent of men over 65 years of age continue to work. Fewer women work after reaching the age of 65, but in New Jersey 14.8 percent of women continue to toil at that age, 40 percent of them fulltime. Nationally, the rate is 12.7 percent.
