Number of the Day: 3,356

June 20, 2012 | Number of The Day

An anticipated jump in the number of children enrolling in the Interdistrict Public Choice program, which allows students to enroll in another neighboring school system, will bring the likely enrollees to 3,356
next year — about a third more than this year’s 2,156 students. Currently, 71 school systems in the state participate in the program, which is optional for the receiving districts. The program is free for students living within a 20-mile radius of the new school. Any school-age student in New Jersey is eligible for the program and students have to apply for the following year by April 30.
