The state legislature has approved a bill that will allow $534 million
of unused funds, primarily from the federal government, to be used for a revolving loan fund for water treatment projects.

Both local governments and private companies are eligible to apply for funding through the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program, which has already provided loans for about 1,000 projects worth about $5.9 billion. The projects include those that deal with wastewater systems, stormwater management and clean drinking water.
