In good times and bad, New Jersey’s divorce rate is pretty consistent, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics, also known as VitalStats. In 2008, there were 25,766 divorces in the Garden State. The year before saw 25,687 couples break the marital cord in this state, and in 2006, there were 25,794 divorces.
The number of marriages seems to vary a bit more but not by a lot. In 2008, there were 45,682 marriages. In 2006, 47,727 couples in New Jersey tied the knot.
