Number of the Day: 10,815

Much is being made of the merits of school choice in New Jersey, be it charters or vouchers, but 10,815 children were accepted this year into maybe the state’s most successful choice model: county vocational-technical high schools. All of the state’s 21 vocational districts offer career-focused secondary schools, and the selective magnet high schools in Monmouth, Union and Bergen are among the highest achieving in New Jersey. Demand is high: For every open seat, there are more than two applicants.
