NJ Spotlight’s School Report Card Goes Live

Introducing a graphical tool that lets you see at a glance how your school stacks up against the averages -- and other schools

NJ Spotlight’s School Report Card comes home today, as we offer the latest in state data on every New Jersey public school’s performance and spending, from test scores to how much each spends on clubs and sports.

The School Report Card is one of many data tools that we plan to provide our readers, giving them a look at important statistics and measurements in informative and innovative ways.

While much of the school data has been available in a variety of places online, NJ Spotlight has created a graphical interface that allows you to build your own reports and see at a glance how your school stacks up against the averages. You can compare your school with others by opening a second window.

We will update the Report Card as the state releases new data. We plan to add new features and analysis as well.

Coupled with our current tools that allow readers to explore state spending, revenues and local aid, the Report Card is another piece in NJ Spotlight’s mission to provide local communities the vital news and information affecting core issues in their lives.

In the weeks ahead, NJ Spotlight will announce partnerships with mainstream and hyper-local news sites that should help bring this information even more directly into your communities.
