New Jersey wine is not easy to find on restaurant menus, so it may come as a surprise that the Garden State is No. 5 in wine production in the country, following California, New York, Oregon and Washington. There are almost 40 wineries stretched across the state from Sussex to Cape May counties and along the Jersey shore, growing more than 40 varieties of grapes. This year has seen an early harvest, and celebrations are expected through the beginning of October.
