On the campaign trail earlier this year, Gov.-elect Phil Murphy frequently pointed to New Jersey's key location between New York and Philadelphia, and how the health of the state's economy is linked closely to the condition of its transportation network.

Earlier this year, a report issued by the nonpartisan Fund for New Jersey exhaustively detailed the challenges facing the incoming Murphy administration when it comes to maintaining the state's highways, bridges, and mass-transit system, and it offered several hard-to-swallow options for funding overdue improvements and maintenance.

Here's the report, which was issued as part of the Fund for New Jersey's broader Crossroads NJ policy series.
