Elections 2016: Congressional District 8
District 8 includes parts of New Jersey's largest cities -- Newark and Jersey City -- as well as other portions of Hudson and Essex counties, and some Bergen and Union municipalities. The incumbent is Democrat Albio Sires, who has been in Congress since 2006. His Republican opponent is Agha Khan of Jersey City. Two independents are on the ballot: Libertarian Dan Delaney of Hoboken and Pablo Olivera, a perennial candidate, of Newark. Democrats make up nearly half of all registered voters, keeping this district very blue.
