U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul Fishman speaks to reporters outside federal court after Monday's hearing on the Bridgegate co-conspirators.

According to the prosecution’s star witness David Wildstein, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo tried to block a probe into the Bridgegate lane closures.

Wildstein also averred that during the three-month cover-up period, which extends from the lane closures to the point at which the “time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee” email surfaced, Cuomo and Gov. Chris Christie had a conversation arranging for a report to be written that would quash any questions as to the actual reason for the lane closures.

Cuomo and Christie were going to represent that the report was a traffic study that was miscommunicated by the New Jersey side of the Port Authority. The New York side would sign off on the story.
