Confident Christie Vows to Bring Some Jersey Attitude to the White House
Governor tells GOP supporters at Asbury Park event that he expects to win nomination, become president
His poll numbers may be low, but Gov. Chris Christie told his home-state GOP supporters last night that he expects to be the first U.S. president since Woodrow Wilson to hail from the Garden State.
“We’re not only going to bring our ideas to this campaign and ultimately to the White House but we’re going to bring a little Jersey to the campaign and the White House as well. And I think you all know this — that’s going to start on Thursday night in Cleveland, Ohio,” Christie said.
About 600 supporters paid a minimum of $250 to attend the gathering at Asbury Park’s famed Convention Hall and hear Christie assert that he was born to run for the White House.
Referring to the New Jersey pin he wears on his lapel, Christie declared: “I wear this pin every day no matter what state I’m in and on Inauguration Day — January 20, 2017 — we will proudly wear this pin on the steps of the Capitol,” Christie said.
