Situated along the Delaware River, the 6th District encompasses 15 communities straddling Burlington and Camden counties: Berlin Township, Cherry Hill, Collingswood, Gibbsboro, Haddon, Haddonfield, Hi-Nella, Maple Shade, Merchantville, Oaklyn, Pennsauken, Somerdale, Stratford, Tavistock and Voorhees.
This has been a solidly Democratic district, with almost 39 percent registering for the “blue” party while 15 percent are registered Republicans. The rest are not affiliated with any party.
Both Democratic incumbents are running again. Assemblyman Louis D. Greenwald, an attorney who lives in Voorhees, is currently the majority leader; he is finishing his 20th year in the lower house. Assemblywoman Pamela Lampitt of Cherry Hill, the general manager for conference and dining services at the University of Pennsylvania, is completing her 5th Assembly term.
The unopposed Republicans are Holly Tate of Stratford and Robert Esposito of Cherry Hill.
